Lion Durga Malleswara Rao’s interactions with others are
characterized by respect and empathy. He firmly believes in recognizing the inherent talent within every
individual. He was instrumental in constructing the permanent project Hariat Bhavan and Lions District Office.
As a Past District Governor, he has served as Conference Committee Chairman for District Cabinet Installations
/ District Conventions on more than 22 occasions. His dedication to Lionism is further underscored by his
status as a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow (PMJF).

Since joining Lionism in 1986-87, he has amassed numerous accolades, including multiple Best President Par
Excellence award, four International President’s Medalian awards, a Leadership Medal, ten Extension Awards,
five Guiding Lion Awards, and fifteen International President’s Appreciation Certificates. He achieved the
distinction of 100% District Governor during his tenure, and the clubs in Krishna District bestowed upon him
the ‘Netra Jyothi’ title in recognition of his selfless dedication to Sight First initiatives. He has also served
as the Founder Chairman of VSM Lions Eye Hospital and currently holds the position of Chairman of Netra
Charitable Trust. His commitment to eye care is evident in his organization of a special program in 2017,
which provided 125 free eye screening camps in a single day.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions, Lion Durga Malleswara
Rao received the Rajiv Chakra National Award in 1995. His journey of service continues, as he has been elected
as the Chairman of the PDG’s Forum of Multiple District 316 for the term 2024-26.

During his time as District Governor, Lion Durga Malleswara Rao achieved the
remarkable feat of extending 21 Lions Clubs and 17 Leo Clubs, while also collecting 20 MJFs for the Lions
Clubs International Foundation. His efforts culminated in two world records - in Membership and Extension.
Under his leadership, clubs in the district conducted 51 Dhantha Raksha (Dental Camps), 50 Diabetic Camps,
E.C.G. screening for 2,000 people, 2,000 family planning operations, numerous Redgold (Blood Donation
Camps), Environmental Programs, BSRB Coaching Classes, and Child Eye Care Programs.
